Hear hear.

I am always excited when people write about HR in the future, especially when the topic of personalization comes up, which I have been writing about since 1996.

Rehumanization assumes there was a dehumanization. But, although we know since long how we can fulfill human needs and/to be productive (mind the slash), the history of HR is full of practices that destroy human motivation, dignity etc.

Dehumanization is a process in which people are denied their human qualities.

So, my view is that we need not rehumanize HR, we just need to humanize it. It has not focused enough on human behavior. It’s not so much about technology, although I agree that tech helps to personalize the experience people have.

It’s more about empathy, fairness, safety, compassion and reciprocity to balance the competetive and often unsocial approach organizations have when dealing with people.

If there is humanity in business, there is business in humanity. And let’s talk about HR for the future and not of the future.
